New players, welcome to the American Idol pool. Old players, welcome back. We have a record breaking number of contestants this year with 22 teams. At $20 per team, that brings the winning pot up to $440- highest pot to date. The draft will begin when the top 20 players remain. What does this mean? It means you should watch closely when the top 24 are selected on wednesday evening, because your winner is in that group. Below is the schedule from now until the time the pool begins.
Tuesday, Feb. 12 (8:00-10:00 PM) Hollywood Round, Part 1 (aired)
Wednesday, Feb. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM) Hollywood Round, Part 2 Top 24 Semifinalists Announced
Tuesday, Feb. 19 (8:00-10:00 PM) Top 12 Male Singers Perform
Wednesday, Feb. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM) Top 12 Female Singers Perform
Thursday, Feb. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM) First Results Show (ET live/PT tape-delayed) Two Male and Two Female Contestants Voted Off
The day after the top 20 are announced, the pool will begin with a draft (draft order will be selected at random and by a 3rd party). Each team will have 1 representative as the spokesperson to select your players. I will be setting up a spreadsheet on Google that each team member will be able to access and follow, so that as it becomes your turn, you will be able to fill in your selection yourself. I'm sure there will be questions, please just let me know who your team captain is and I will explain more thoroughly.Each team will get 3 picks of Idol contestants- each contestant can be selected 4 times. Once "Lakisha" has been picked 4 times, "Lakisha" is no longer available. Understand? The draft will go in a snake formation, 1-22, 22-1 and 1-22 again.

Shonna & Zindy are the most fashionable players in the pool. They are runway material, and are the future mother-in-law and sister-in-law to Jamie Moskowitz. Apparently Zindy has been taking notes on Idol since the first episode.

Jacob & Ali live in their fancy new apartment in NYC where they spend much of their time ordering in food and having custom suits made for Jacob in Thailand. They are both excellent shoppers.

Jon & Erin
Jon and Erin are NOT dating. They are roommates. But they should be dating. They moved to LA from Miami last year. Jon spends his days chasing Britney Spears while Erin spends hers with 500 pairs of sunglasses.

Whitney and Matt are the medical team on call. Both are students at the University of Miami medical school. They watch eachother give rectal exams to patients. Whitney is Melissa's catter cousin.

Ashton and Rich are LA casting directors who are overly confident that their reality tv skills will bring them far in the competition. Rich is training for the Iron Man. Ashton is not.

Marni and Jamie were Dayton Dawg cheerleaders together, took highschool spanish with Sra, were sorority sisters at U of M and like to eat at Cioffi's deli. Jamie's entire "to-be" family is playing in this pool.

Chris & Adam live in NYC and went to college together. Chris is a restaurateur and Adam likes to eat at Chris's restaurants.

Jenni & George enjoy Happy Endings. Jenni is a makeup artist and George a restaurant owner (Happy Endings- I often do work from there- free wi-fi!.)

Mikey and Melissa spend most of their relationship with headsets on a red carpet. They know a lot of famous people, and think they they think are cooler than they are. And Mikey is bossy.

And then it happened, the best moment in Idol history. Ever. Really. While perky, annoying Miss South Florida Fair Brooke Helvie gave an awful, awful performance of “Unchained Melody,” Simon, with an evil twinkle in his eye, gave Barbie a go-thru, forcing Paula to shoot her down. That’s right, Paula said no. What the hell is going on here? It’s the first thing Paula’s done in her life that I approve of. And it’s the second time this season that Paula made a coherent and wise decision. It looks like the former Mrs. Estevez finally hit that right combo of whatever it is she’s taking. She should really write that one down.
